Mitchell Harris Fumé Blanc 2014

Always a classy addition to the Sauvignon Blanc scene, a world away from the overt fruit of many examples on the market.

Familiar passionfruit - sans the grass - augmented with a little pineapple. Feels rounded, textural and savoury - but doesn't quite reach the heights scaled in previous vintages.

Good length, a little grip, some vanilla/creme on the finish adds to the overall package. 91

Mitchell Harris Fumé Blanc 2013

A touch more forward than the 2012 instance, but you can see the family line inherent within.

Opens with citrus, moving to a little lime custard and a suggestion of tropical fruit. Subtlety, terroir and technique here serve to mute the inherently overt nature of the variety. A little green herb and asparagus in the mix here too.

Good balnce of acid and phenolics, the two combine to seek out the furthest reaches of the palate. There's a creamy/ milkiness here too, it is a wine of textural interest on the finish - waxy, rounded. 92

Mitchell Harris Sauvignon Blanc Fumé 2016

Leads with a creamy, almost bruleé character, with aromatics of lime and perhaps a suggestion of fennel tops (but that could be the salad we'd made for dinner...)

Has a richness, depth, lovely grip. Hints of spice on an excellent length. 93

Mitchell Harris Sauvignon Blanc Fumé 2012

Opened a swag of Sauvignon Blanc, and this was by far the best of the bunch - quite possibly as it is so far removed from what the general representation of the variety is.

Key lime with waxy hints, toasty and smoky on the palate.  It's lie in a combination of restraint compared to some of the overt examples tasted, and the texture imparted through oak barrel maturation.

Holds a generous acidic line that builds in the mouth and flares a little, adding extra width.  Just adored its textural feel and staying power.  93 - Very Good
