Citrus tang, quince, touch of leesy curds in the background. Palate is chock full of stonefruit, grapefruit acidity, quince. 

There's a lovely unison between integrated oak - giving some foundation for the wine - and acid tension, giving flow and length. 

It feels incredibly at ease with itself, a delight to drink now, yet also provides graceful nods towards what might lay ahead. 93 Now to 2034

Initial entry is gentle and textural, leading to an expansive mid-palate through the finish. Burst of energetic tangy-lime acidity closes the wine out.

Ripe peach with a throw of toasted oak in the frame. Toast latterly morphs to a spice, grilled hazelnut, a peppery top note.

A little creamy texture whips across the palate, oak spice backing that up with an expansive move through the finish. A phenolic touch adds further dimension to the wine's conclusion. Depth, length and interest. 92

Very Hills and Tapanappa in profile, citrus and nectarine with a smattering of oak (one third new) in support: there, yet allowing the fruit to shine.

Decent length here, a fine line with a just there acidity. It's all about the balance.

Something like a grapefruit tang through that length, leading to a somewhat straightforward package overall (in the context of its brethren within the portfolio). 91

Unusually it seems exotically aromatic, Indian sandalwood and spice; touches of stonefruit and citrus, more traditionally, sit in the background.

Generous thrust of grapefruit like acidity, oft stated as a hallmark of Piccadilly, with an almost chalk like phenolic veneer flowing across the palate. 

Aside from that initial aromatic observation, it's classic Hills - and Tapanappa - Chardonnay. Another quality release. 93

A Jacob's Creek sub-brand, albeit one pumping out $50 Hills Chardonnay. 

Opens with classic aromatics, that mix of stonefruit, citrus, all wrapped up with just toasted oak and associated spice. 

Pronounced citrusy tang on entry, certainly bright and fresh initially, before the spine of acidity and structure make their presence felt. 

Good wine, but value wise it is pitched squarely against S+S M3, Tapanappa's Piccadilly, which all have the march on this. Good as I say, not $50 good. 91

Brian Croser is undoubtedly the Godfather of Adelaide Hills Chardonnay, first planting the region to the variety some 40-odd years ago. 

Broad and powerful wine, instantly you feel seduced by its quite intoxicating allure of stonefruit, citrus and oak. The palate suggests sandalwood meets a subtle cinnamon tinged spice. Has substance, yet also a gentle flowing length across the length of the palate. 

As ever balance is key, and that elegant wine combined with acidity will see this hold well. At ten dollars cheaper than Shaw + Smith's M3 it's a very attractive premium regional offering. 93

All stonefruit, supplemented - bolstered even - with a small portion of new (33%) oak. Wheaten and mealy, has the lovely golden suggestion of the setting sun. 

Feels fleshy, almost chewy on entry. Not quite plump, rounded - not chiselled. That occurs elsewhere in the portfolio. Solid, some might say. 

Balanced, nothing over the top, flavoursome to the very end - where a flash of citrussy acidity is actually quite welcome. 92

Sees 30% new oak, with just over 300 dozen made. Citrus, lemon curds, honeydew, touches of meal, spicy oak.

The sour tang of lemon, a racy, almost nervy energy to it; acid that verily reaches into the far recesses of the palate, secreting itself into the cheeks, before the slow withdrawal. 

Intensity of finish, a bold slap of flavour, lingering long. 92
